Rangoli POster
This piece is both a poster and an interepation of a rangoli. Which is a traditional Indian art form made from patterns of colored powder, flower petals, or sand, often created on the ground to celebrate festivals and bring positive energy into a space. Rangoli designs are symbolic, decorative, and deeply rooted in storytelling, which makes them a perfect canvas for personal expression.
As my very first design in Adobe Illustrator, this assignment challenged us to take something meaningful from our own lives and translate it into a modern rangoli-inspired digital form. I chose the ocean, something that has always brought me a sense of calm and connection thoughout my whole life.
Through layered shapes, flowing lines, and a soft color palette, I created an underwater world where movement and balance mirror the rhythm of waves. While staying true to the radial harmony typical of rangoli, I reimagined it through a marine lens, letting sea creatures and seaweed form a peaceful, visual meditation.
This project marked the beginning of my journey with design tools, and it remains one of the most personal and grounding pieces I’ve made.
