Typographer Poster
This poster was a deep dive into pure typography, no images, no shortcuts, just the expressive power of letterforms. Tasked with honoring a legendary type designer using only the characters and glyphs from a single typeface, I chose Broadway, the iconic Art Deco font crafted by Morris Fuller Benton.
As only my second project in Illustrator, I embraced the limitations and let the type lead the way. I played with scale, layering, and composition to transform individual glyphs into a central, illustration-like design, almost sculptural in its form. With no visuals to lean on, every curve, line, and space had to carry meaning and intention.
This poster became a celebration of Broadway’s bold geometry and theatrical flair, and a quiet tribute to Benton’s lasting impact on design. It’s type as image, history as art.
